Family Promise of Morris County Hosts Virtual Comedy Night, An Evening of Comedy

On Thursday, February 24, Family Promise of Morris County (FPMC) is hosting An Evening of Comedy, a virtual standup comedy night to benefit families and individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.

Comedian and author Leighann Lord will headline the evening; she is most notably known for her work in Showtime’s Even More Funny Women of a Certain Age and Dry Bar Comedy. Another featured comedian is Mike Morse, who spent eight years writing and opening for Lisa Lampanelli. The host for the evening is standup comic Terry-Ann Zander. This seasoned lineup is sure to spread laughs all around.

Attendees can choose between a hot chocolate or wine kit to enjoy from home, including sweet treats from local businesses; additional kits are also available for purchase. Tickets range from $25 to $35 and include one admittance per household and a kit of choice for attendees to enjoy at home. The event will take place virtually over Zoom from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit bit.ly/EveningofComedy.

As those experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity endure the pandemic’s long-lasting effects, Family Promise of Morris County is committed to improving the community’s overall economic, health, and housing outcomes. All funds raised through An Evening of Comedy will support programming to end homelessness and maintain housing stability in Morris County.

Last year, the organization expanded outreach services and launched two new housing programs. Promising Solutions (PS) provides safe, shared, affordable housing for up to 32 single women in the county, and Rapid Rehousing and Diversion (RRH) quickly moves families into safe, stable housing while helping ensure avoidance of the shelter system. In 2021, PS served 20 single women and RRH had a nearly 75% combined success rate of families and individuals maintaining housing. To help FPMC further this work, purchase tickets here.
