Community Spotlight: The Growing Stage Theatre

This month’s Community Spotlight highlights The Growing Stage Theatre, a children’s theater in Netcong, NJ, which provides theatre and educational initiatives, both on-stage and off, to young audiences in our community.

We’re thrilled to share that Family Promise of Morris County is partnering with The Growing Stage Theatre through their current mainstage show, Pinkalicious: The Musical. Plus, 10% of proceeds from each ticket purchased will benefit the families and individuals we serve in Morris County!

A partnership through the theatre’s Sharing the Spotlight program, this collaboration works to serve both local 501-C-3 service organizations and their company to bring to light the work that we collectively bring to our communities. It’s a wonderful and creative way to raise funds and awareness for all!

Based on the popular children’s book by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann, the musical follows Pinkalicious, a young girl with a sweet tooth who comes down with Pinktititis, turning her pink from head to toe. With the help of friends and family, she seeks a way out of her predicament, finding unity and learning to appreciate the quirks that define us all along the way.

From March 18 through April 10, families and children alike can enjoy this fun and educational story while supporting families experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity in the community. To purchase tickets to Pinkalicious, click here.

Also of note is Growing Stage Board Trustee Manny Fernandez, who has lent a hand in organizing this awesome partnership between our organizations. Manny’s support of Family Promise of Morris County didn’t begin here, though—he’s been a volunteer and Congregation Coordinator for St. Jude’s Parish in Hopatcong, NJ, for over a decade!

Volunteer Opportunity!

The past two pandemic years have made in-person volunteering a bit trickier, especially with social distancing practices in place. Which is why we’re so excited to offer a new volunteer opportunity this month: Family Promise of Morris County volunteers can join in on the fun by raising awareness for our agency at an info table, working concessions, and lending a helping hand at a performance of their choice.

We’re currently seeking 3-4 volunteers for each of the following performance dates:

  • March 26 at 4:00 pm

  • March 27 at 2:00 pm

  • April 2 at 4:00 pm

  • April 3 at 2:00 pm

  • April 9 at 4:00 pm

  • April 10 at 2:00 pm

We truly have the best volunteers! Our community’s willingness to support the families and individuals we serve means the world!

If you'd like to volunteer, please contact our Community Engagement Coordinator, Nora Godown, at n.godown@familypromisemorris.org.
