Community Spotlight: PBF Energy Employee and Volunteer Mike Veltri

Family Promise’s volunteers and community partners are an important piece of our mission, which is why our February Community Spotlight will highlight PBF Energy employee and Family Promise volunteer Mike Veltri.

From volunteerism and donations to sponsoring our Homebound Hustle 5K for two years in a row, PBF Energy has supported Family Promise’s mission for nearly five years.

In 2022, PBF committed to completing a series of service projects for our agency, such as gardening, painting, and organizing items. Mike Veltri is one of many PBF staff members who have offered their time and talent to a variety of impactful Done in a Day projects at our Day Center. We are so grateful for this continued support!

This past summer, Mike spent the day beautifying our garden area, which included painting a picnic table for FP guest and staff enjoyment.

You can learn more about his experience below!

Meet Mike Veltri

Where do you work?

PBF Energy, Inc.

What is your role?

I’m a Billing Specialist in the HQ Traffic Crude Department.

How did you get involved with Family Promise (FP)?

I was introduced to FP through the company's outreach initiatives.

In 2-3 sentences, describe a positive experience you had with FP.

It worked out that the time I could schedule allowed me to contribute my efforts in accomplishing a little maintenance that would help make someone’s stay just a little more hospitable.

What do you like most about volunteering for FP? What part of our mission resonates most with you?

Every person / family can run into hard times, and Family Promise offers that helping hand and guidance that can be extremely hard to ask someone for when needed. A place to stay, to get back on your feet, and working towards a better tomorrow.

Do you have any hobbies?

My hobbies include cycling and golf.
